# Intro to Trading Systems

### Trading systems trace their roots all the way back to 1949 when Richard Donchian launched Futures, Inc., one of the first publicly held commodity funds, which used set rules to generate buy and sell signals. Trading systems have come a long way since then. Through it all, systematic trading through automated trading systems have remained a viable piece of alternative investments.
